Stand Up for Pride–MEET OUR EMCEE: ROBERT THOMPSON

We’re less than two weeks away from Stand-Up for Pride! And for those of you who haven’t bought your tickets yet, we thought we’d start revealing a little more about what—and more importantly, who—we have in store for you.

First things first: somebody has to hold this whole thing together.

We considered careful planning, organization, and good judgment. Instead, we got an emcee.

Meet Robert Thompson, the man we’ve entrusted with a microphone, five comedians, and the responsibility of keeping the evening moving. He seemed like a good fit. We’re sticking with that decision.

Robert has been frequenting Tucker’s queer scene since about 2005—way back in the days of the infamous Stage Door, Tucker Saloon, and even the American Legion (before the fires). In other words, Robert has seen some things.

These days, he stays busy as a political operative and co-host of the monthly Dixie Dems podcast, following previous stints with Radio Tucker and Peach News Now.

Robert and his husband eventually made their way across town during COVID, settling just outside Tucker—where Robert says he can now “see Tucker from his home office window.” He shares that commanding view with his husband, and Briggs, their appropriately spoiled rescue corgi.

So now you know who’s holding the microphone between the comedians.

Whether he’s capable of maintaining order remains to be seen.
